Bruce Frye brings extensive umpiring experience to his role as Umpire Advisor - Softball for the South-Central area of Babe Ruth Leagues of Virginia, Inc. He has officiated NCAA Division 1 Invitational Tournaments (1987-91), Virginia High School State Tournament Finals (1988, 1990, and 2003), the 2002 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Tournament, the 2003 Babe Ruth 16U World Series, and the 2001 and 2002 Babe Ruth Regional Tournaments. In addition, he has served as the Umpire-in-Chief UIC for Babe Ruth Southeast Region softball tournaments in 2003, 2006, 2009, and 2011; Babe Ruth Virginia State softball tournaments in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2012, and 2014; the Virginia Babe Ruth District 1 and 3 softball tournament in 2003 through 2014; and the Softball Nation Fast-Pitch Nationals in 2007 through 2014.

Bruce is a member of the Babe Ruth National Umpire Association (since 1995), the Virginia Babe Ruth Umpires Association (charter member), Virginia High School League Softball Umpires (since 1982), Metro Richmond Officiating Service (since 1993), and the Softball Nation - National Fast-Pitch UIC (since 2006). He is a past member of ASA Slow & Fast-Pitch Umpires (1979-96), USSSA Slow & Fast-Pitch Umpires (1982-91), NSA Slow & Fast-Pitch Umpires (1985-91), and NCAA Division III Umpires (2000-02).

Bruce's past leadership positions in youth sports include serving as Commissioner, VP, & Treasurer of the Metro Richmond Officiating Service; President of the Eastern Virginia Officials Association (1989-91); President of the Sandston Youth Association (2004-05); District 1 Commissioner of Babe Ruth Leagues of Virginia (2006-07); and the District Representative to the Virginia Beach Education Association (1977-80).

Bruce lives in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
