Glenn Spangler began playing Babe Ruth baseball as a 13-year-old in 1968.  His Babe Ruth volunteer service began in 1991 as a coach, an umpire, and a league commissioner for the Stuarts Draft Ruritan Bambino League (now the Stuarts Draft Babe Ruth League).  Glenn coached softball from 1992 through 1996, coached baseball from 1995 through 2005, and served as league president from 1997 through 2002.  His service as a baseball and softball umpire has extended from local league games to District, State, and Regional tournament play, including several assignments as umpire-in-chief.  In 1998, he was elected as District 4 Assistant Commissioner for baseball.  In 2009, he took on additional responsibilities when he was elected as District 4 Softball Commissioner.  He continues to perform both roles as a member of the Board of Directors of Babe Ruth Leagues of Virginia, Inc.  Glenn’s many years of service to Babe Ruth League, Inc., were recognized on 2017 when he was presented a 25-year pin from Babe Ruth CEO Steven Tellefsen.  In September 2019, Glenn was elected to the Executive Committee position of Assistant State Commissioner, Training.
