Phillip Larcomb has over 20 years volunteer experience with youth athletic sports in baseball, girls softball, and competitive volleyball. Phil began his coaching career in 1999 with the Woodlawn Little League near Fort Belvoir, Virginia. In the spring of 2002, Phil joined the Summit Point Baseball League as the League Secretary and as a Manager in the Cal Ripken Division.
In the fall of 2003, Phil founded the Summit Point Girls Softball League. In the spring of 2004, the girls program officially chartered with Babe Ruth Softball. The girls softball program over the years has achieved success as Virginia State Champions, Southeast Regional Runners-up, and Southeast Regional Champions; several teams have represented Summit Point at the Babe Ruth World Series in Florida.
Following the success of the girls’ softball program, in 2006, Phil along with his wife, Dana, and several other individuals formed the Jefferson County Volleyball Club (JCVBC), a member of the Chesapeake Region Volleyball Association (CHRVA). Phil was elected as the Club Director and developed a relationship with the CHRVA, Jefferson Parks and Recreation, Jefferson County Public Schools, and Shepherd College Volleyball team.
In October 2007, Phil was appointed as the newly established Babe Ruth District 9 Commissioner. Phil served as the District 9 Commissioner until he was appointed as the Virginia Assistant State Commissioner, Training and Compliance, position in February 2013 (and elected to the position in the fall of 2013). On May 1, 2018, Phil was elected to the position of Secretary-Treasurer to fill the vacancy created by Dave Gushee's retirement.
Phil aka “Airborne”, a United States Army combat veteran, credits his love for baseball and softball from his experiences during his Army career. Phil was named the most valuable player of the 1994 USSSA All Armed Forces World Series tournament.
Phil has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Troy University and an undergraduate Accounting degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University. Phil continues to serve his country and the U.S. Army as a Project Controls Manager Program.
