Pat O’Brien began managing his son’s team in the Greater Vienna Babe Ruth League in 2006, and has served as the league secretary since 2009. He served as Assistant Commissioner of District 6 from 2017 until 2021.
Pat ran track and cross country at the Virginia Military Institute, where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He then served 26½ years in the U.S. Air Force. Following his career in the Air Force, he attended George Mason Law School and worked as a patent attorney in Washington, DC. After retiring from that job, Pat became a teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools, teaching high school math at James Madison High School. Now that he is fully retired, he spends his time coaching the Vienna Senior League Nationals and working as a volunteer docent at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum. Pat began his baseball career playing Little League in Mattydale, NY, and then playing Babe Ruth League while living in Madrid, Spain. He attended his first major league baseball game at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn.
