Sheri's love of baseball began at an early age when she lost her first tooth at Fenway Park. Sheri began volunteering with Babe Ruth over 15 years ago when her oldest child started in the Cal Ripken Divison. She ran a major fundraiser, coached T-Ball, did the league scheduling and eventually became League President of Herndon Optimist Youth Baseball (HOYB) for 10 years. During her tenure, her goal was to make baseball accessible to all children who wanted to play and to make sure that recreational baseball was at the core of the league. Both of her children played baseball and all-star baseball in the league and subsequently in the Babe Ruth Division. Her son played on his high school team and later in club baseball at college, and her daughter transitioned to basketball and also played for her high school.

During her time as HOYB President, Sheri recruited countless volunteers, conducted fundraising and community sponsorship to put up two scoreboards and a bathroom facility at a local field, put up a flagpole in honor of a devoted coach, and sponsored two Eagle Scout projects that improved other facilities. Her involvement in the Nationals uniform program led to having Max Scherzer come to an intimate gathering of families on the field with Max teaching pitching to over 200 kids. For many years, Sheri and her family hosted Herndon Braves players who played for a Cal Ripken, Sr. wood-bat summer league. One of the players is currently playing for the LA Dodgers!

Sheri volunteers in her community in other capacities, through her local high school and church, with diverse interests such as co-leading the annual all-night high school graduation party, operating an annual hypothermia shelter, leading the volunteers for a chorus Broadway show, and many other events. Sheri works full time as a self-employed program and project manager consultant, specializing in rescue projects.
