Bob’s earliest memories of baseball are watching New York Yankees games with his father and riding the subway to the Polo Grounds with his grandfather. Bob grew up in Brooklyn and on Staten Island and played baseball from the time he was six years old. In his mid-thirties, Bob was playing fastpitch softball when he relocated to Virginia. Not finding a nearby men’s fastpitch league, he joined the Richmond Men’s Senior Baseball League (RMSBL). While playing in the RMSBL, he met Ron Robinson who recruited Bob as an umpire.

Bob has been a baseball umpire since 1996. He has also umpired softball and is active as a volleyball official.  He has been a board member of several officiating associations and currently is the Secretary of the Old Dominion Umpires Association (ODUA) and the President of the Central Virginia Volleyball Officials Association. He has served on various committees and, among other things, has written or revised various Constitution, By-Laws, and Procedure Policies as well as sitting on evaluation and the rules committees.

Bob started evaluating officials in 1999 and wrote the ODUA small field mechanics manual. He has also served as a commissioner, assignor, and scheduler at various times.

Bob lives in Glen Allen, Virginia, with his wife and nothing delights him more than the happy faces of his family and friends when they are enjoying one of the large meals he is known to prepare.
